Recruitment Process
What can I expect at the interview?
- Interviews are really important part of the hiring process and they help with decision making for quality hires that will fit into the Chelsea culture and way of life. Keep in mind that this is a two way process as this gives us an opportunity to get to know you better and for you to get to know us too.
- All applications are screened for their suitability for the role and shortlisted for a telephone interview. At the telephone interview stage we may require additional information in support of your application, verify your personal details, motivations for applying and discuss your application and CV to match the role requirements.
- If you are successful at the telephone interview stage, you will be invited to a face-to-face interview. You may be required to meet with several members of the team through a phased process i.e Recruitment Manager, HR Manager and Hiring Managers involved.
- The format of the interview will be structured with behavioural questions. The interview gives you an opportunity to ask questions, get to know the team and get a peek into our organisation.
How long will the recruitment process take before a decision is made?
- We will be as transparent as possible throughout the process and keep you as informed as possible at all stages of the process.
- The time the recruitment process takes before a decision is made can vary from one position to the next depending on a number of different considerations.
Is there a psychological assessment involved during the recruitment process?
- Psychological assessment may be used within the recruitment process. These assessments could consist of a number of different components including verbal reasoning and numerical reasoning. You will be advised prior to assessment which you will need to complete.
- You may also be requested to complete a personality profile which gives us an opportunity to understand your work style.
- The assessment tool is used in conjunction with the interview to select the most suitable candidate for the position.
- You will receive verbal feedback on your assessment results from an accredited psychologist.
Will I be expected to complete a medical assessment?
- All candidates are required to complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
- These assessments are conducted by Primary Corporate Health located in Ponsonby.
- The pre-employment medical is a tool for ensuring that an employee will be safe and capable in performing the position they have applied for.
Will there be background checks?
- Yes, as part of the selection process candidates will be asked to provide at least two referees.
- The HR team and the hiring manager involved will conduct verbal references.
- It is preferable that these referees are/or have been your direct manager/supervisor.
- References will only be conducted after you have given consent for your nominated referees to be contacted.
What are the legal requirements to work in New Zealand?
- All applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand.
- If applying for roles in New Zealand, please refer to the New Zealand Immigration Service.
Offer of employment
- Please note that we do not make verbal offers. Written employment contracts will be couriered out to the successful applicants.
